No dia 1 de julho, confirmando as previsões das sondagens, Andrés Manuel López Obrador foi eleito Presidente do México com um programa que promete responder aos principais desafios do país: crise económica e crescentes níveis de corrupção e violência. É a primeira vez, em décadas, que um político de esquerda chega à chefia do Estado na segunda maior economia da América Latina.
